Metabria is a seed treatment based on metalaxyl. It targets the oomycetes — Pythium, Phytophthora, downy mildews — which are biologically closer to algae than to fungi and are untouched by most fungicides. Applied to the seed, it protects the seedling through the damping-off window when losses are invisible until the stand comes up thin.

Cómo actúa
Metalaxyl inhibits ribosomal RNA polymerase in oomycetes, stopping protein synthesis. It is highly specific to that group. Because it is single-site, resistance can develop quickly, which is why metalaxyl is normally sold alongside a multi-site partner. FRAC Group 4.
