Pirimbria
Kills aphids and almost nothing else — the specialist that protects your beneficials.

Pirimbria is a selective aphicide based on pirimicarb. Its value is what it does not kill: predatory beetles, lacewings, parasitic wasps and predatory mites largely survive it, so the natural control that keeps mites and other secondary pests in check stays intact. In IPM programmes, and in crops where a broad-spectrum spray reliably triggers a mite flare-up afterwards, that selectivity is the whole point.
Characteristics
- Highly selective — controls aphids while sparing most beneficials
- Prevents the secondary mite flare-ups that follow broad-spectrum sprays
- Fast-acting by contact, ingestion and vapour
- Covers citrus, apple, cotton, sugar beet, hops and ornamentals
- IRAC Group 1A — rotation partner for pyrethroids and neonicotinoids
- The cornerstone aphicide of an IPM programme
How it works
Pirimicarb is a carbamate that inhibits acetylcholinesterase, but its structure fits the aphid enzyme far better than that of most other insects — which is the basis of its selectivity. It acts by contact, ingestion and vapour, so it reaches aphids inside curled leaves. IRAC Group 1A.
