Parabria
Pure physical control — nothing to become resistant to.

Parabria is a highly refined paraffinic oil that kills by suffocation rather than by poisoning. Because the mode of action is purely physical, no pest population can develop resistance to it, and there is no residue in the usual sense. It is the classic answer to armoured scale insects, mealybug and mite eggs in citrus, olive and vineyard, and a valuable resistance-breaker in any programme.
Characteristics
- Purely physical mode of action — resistance is impossible
- Highly effective on armoured and soft scale insects and mealybug
- Kills overwintering mite and insect eggs
- No conventional residue; fits well before harvest and in IPM
- Broad label across citrus, olive, peach and vineyard
- A genuine resistance-breaker in a rotation
How it works
The oil forms a continuous film over the insect and blocks the spiracles it breathes through, so it suffocates. It also disrupts the waxy cuticle and interferes with egg respiration. Thorough, complete coverage is everything with an oil — anything the film does not reach survives.
