Bifenabria

A selective acaricide with a one-day harvest interval and a clean record on beneficials.

Bifenazate 240 g/l
Bifenabria — SC - Suspension Concentrate — Sembria

Bifenabria is a selective acaricide based on bifenazate, developed specifically for spider mite control in protected and high-value crops. Two things make it unusual: a pre-harvest interval of just one day on vegetables and strawberry, which lets you treat a crop in continuous picking, and a mode of action distinct from every other acaricide group, which makes it the natural rotation partner where mites have stopped responding to older chemistry. It controls eggs, larvae, nymphs and adults in a single pass.

Characteristics

  • One-day pre-harvest interval on vegetables, strawberry and carnation
  • Controls all mobile stages plus eggs from a single application
  • IRAC Group 25 — no cross-resistance with Group 6, 10A or organophosphate acaricides
  • Selective profile suited to IPM programmes in protected crops
  • Rain within 6 hours of application does not reduce efficacy
  • Single rate across the label: 60 ml/ha or 60 ml/100 L water

How it works

Bifenazate acts at the mitochondrial complex III of the mite's respiratory chain, shutting down ATP production. Feeding stops quickly and the mite dies over the following days. Its target site is unrelated to those of other acaricide classes, which is why it remains effective on populations that have developed resistance elsewhere. IRAC Group 25.

Doses are indicative. The user is responsible for adjusting the dose to the growth stage of the crop and the conditions of the field. Apply under the guidance of an agricultural technician. Composition, method of application and dose may vary between countries for climatic, technical or legal reasons.

Application

How to apply

Carnation: apply before flowering or after cutting flowers, at an average of 10 mites per leaf — one application is sufficient. Cucumber and eggplant: treat at 5 live mites per leaf. Tomato and pepper: treat at 3 live mites per leaf. Strawberry: early application at flowering and green fruit is safest for residues; in-season, treat at 15 or more live mites per leaf on 50 sampled leaves, immediately after harvesting. Vine: treat above 5-8 mobile individuals per leaf. Shake well before use.

Compatibility

Conduct a preliminary mixing test. Do not store below -5 C or above +35 C.

Always carry out a compatibility test before preparing a tank mixture.

Safety and handling

May cause an allergic skin reaction. Very toxic to aquatic life. Toxic to fish and bees — do not apply during flowering and avoid contamination of groundwater. Wear gloves, protective clothing and eye protection. Do not re-enter the treated area for 1 day. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse.

Read the label before use. Do not use at home. Keep away from children, food and animal feed. Use only as recommended and at the recommended dose.
