Nikobria
Post-emergence grass and broadleaf control in maize, from one pass.

Nicobria is a sulfonylurea herbicide for maize, and it is unusual in covering both grass and broadleaf weeds in a single post-emergence pass — including johnsongrass and couch grass, the perennials that cost maize growers most. The oil dispersion formulation carries the active through the leaf cuticle more reliably than a conventional suspension, which matters in dry conditions.
Characteristics
- Controls grasses and broadleaf weeds in maize from one application
- Effective on johnsongrass and couch grass, including from rhizome
- Oil dispersion formulation improves uptake through the leaf cuticle
- Post-emergence flexibility — treat what actually emerges
- Very low use rate
- HRAC Group B/2
How it works
Nicosulfuron inhibits acetolactate synthase (ALS), halting synthesis of valine, leucine and isoleucine. Susceptible weeds stop growing within hours and die over one to three weeks. Maize metabolises it rapidly, which gives the selectivity — but maize varieties differ in tolerance, so check varietal restrictions. HRAC Group B/2.
Dosing
| Crop | Weeds controlled | Dose | Timing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Corn (4-8 leaves) | Barnyard grass, green foxtail, Digitaria sanguinalis, spotted dancan | 125 ml/da | Before or in early tillering of weeds (2-6 leaves) — PHI 30 days |
| Corn | Johnsongrass (Sorghum halepense) | 125 ml/da | Once shoots are 10-30 cm tall (2-6 leaves) — PHI 30 days |
| Corn | Pigweed, lambs quarters, common purslane, Xanthium strumarium | 125 ml/da | 2-6 leaf stage of weeds |
Doses are indicative. The user is responsible for adjusting the dose to the growth stage of the crop and the conditions of the field. Apply under the guidance of an agricultural technician. Composition, method of application and dose may vary between countries for climatic, technical or legal reasons.
